interiorWith more than 14 years of experience in Patagonia, Chile, your hosts, Frans and Anna Jansen, now offer this exciting fishing program which allows you to fish some of Chile's finest waters in complete comfort. Their lodges are based in Puerto Cardenas, at the outflow of Lago Yelcho, and in La Junta, on the riverbank of the Rio Rosselot; historically known as “big fish country,” where fish of 25” or more are common.

The fishing program at Martín Pescador encompasses two lodges, enabling you to choose from over 10 different rivers and 8 different lakes. Your guide will accompany you to each destination; ensuring you the most seamless fishing excursion. The strategically located lodges cuts down on driving time and allows you to spend more time on the water – each day's fishing is less than ½ hour away and there is very little backtracking.

Halfway through your trip your belongings will be transported from the lodge at Lago Yelcho to the lodge at La Junta while you are enjoying another fabulous day of fishing.

Anna, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, provides guests with sumptuous meals. Her congeniality and attention to detail makes each lodge feel like a home away from home. Her menu encompasses traditional and international foods, hot river lunches and typical Chilean asados.

FISHING

Frans, DM and friendYour professional English-speaking guides, with many years of experience in the region, combined with first-rate equipment, ensure access to even the most remote rivers and lakes. The lodge's wide variety of boats including jet boats, lake boats, rowboats, and rafts ensure diverse fishing. The fishing program includes the Yelcho, Futaleufu, Palena, Rosselot, Figueroa, Pico and other smaller rivers. While fishing these rivers you will have the opportunity to cast to Rainbows, Browns, Sea-run Browns as well as the occasional Silver or Atlantic Salmon.

Lunch is prepared streamside. Upon returning to the lodge each evening, Anna will have everything prepared for the evening's feast of wonderful food and wine.

PUERTO CARDENAS

A beautiful poolYou will spend three nights at Puerto Cardenas, in a comfortable, handcrafted lodge on the shore of Lago Yelcho. In most cases you will be leaving directly from the lodge by boat; fishing either the Rio Yelcho or Lago Yelcho. The fishing is diverse and on the river you will be changing rods often; casting big streamers to the banks and sight fishing for rainbows with little dry flies.

Fishing on Lago Yelcho will include casting large dragon fly imitations towards the reeds resulting in some incredible takes. You will also fish the Rio Futaleufu and wade or drift other nearby rivers. If you wish, you may fish one of the local lagunas. Your lunch will be cooked riverside or you may opt to come back to the lodge for lunch and a short siesta.

LA JUNTA

view fromn the terraceYou will leave Puerto Cardenas for the La Junta area where you will fish for four more days. In La Junta you will stay in a newly built lodge on the banks of the Rio Rosselot. No need to worry about the transfer of your luggage, because it has been done for you; brought to your new room (while you were out fishing) and organized for you. All you have to do is come in, relax, and get ready for dinner.

The program in La Junta will include fishing some of the following rivers: Rio Palena, Rio Rosselot, Rio Figueroa, Rio Pico and other smaller rivers. Access to these rivers is either by jet boat or by raft. You will also have the choice of fishing many different lakes and lagunas in which row boats are stashed.

These rivers and lakes all offer something different differ from one another and present the angler with a great variety of fishing in a wide range of spectacular scenery.

At the end of each day's fishing in the La Junta area, you will have a short ride back to our lodge in La Junta where the pisco sours await your arrival.

Saturday to Saturday. 7 nights / 6 full fishing days.
Capacity: 8 anglers per week.
Getting there: Commercial flight from Santiago to Puerto Montt, then 50 minute air charter to Alto Palena and land transfer to lodge.
Length of stay: December through April.
